In a period of 35 years I cultivated a wide variety of knowledges and skills. During this period numerous artistic and business projects worldwide applied my skills. Until 2020, when it became time to write a completely different life story.
Art & Design
A young boy discovers the world through his art.
It all started when I came across an international network of artists operating by postal mail. It opened the world for me and brought me the opportunity to learn and develop techniques in a wide variety of artistic skills. As a result I participated in numerous exhibitions, publications and artistic projects worldwide. Various private and public collections has samples of my work from this period.
During this period I had also the opportunity to deploy the corporate design of a few businesses.
Art Collection
Years of collecting art saved for eternity.
While active in the mail art network, art from thousands of artists worldwide came my way. In addition, I collected lots of other art material during my travels and festival curatorship. This resulted in an enormous collection of books, magazines, records, tapes, CD’s, art pieces, video art, 3D art, …
In 2014 this art collection was acquired by the National Museum Reina Sofia Centre of Arts in Madrid (Spain), and is since then located in their archives.
Festival
A festival, still unique of its kind.
The idea to organise an exhibition with some pieces from my art collection, gained support and resulted in a first small exhibition. From a small exhibition it evolved over the years into a well respected international festival with rewarded artists.
Its ambition was to present a wide range of creativity and to be a meeting place for exchanging acquired experiences. As such, interaction between artists and visitors through workshops was a pivotal part, which made our festival unique of its kind.
Web Pioneer
A world wide web citizen since the early days.
As my activities didn’t remain unnoticed, an invitation came my way to participate in one of Belgium’s first websites. As such I designed my very first website in 1992, allowing me to be an internet pioneer. Since then I have designed numerous websites, while constantly following the technology and design trends.
As the internet developed into an important marketing tool, I advanced as well in that direction and learned about the opportunities of internet marketing for businesses.
DIY Fashion
I’ve never done it, so I think I can.
To get out my comfort zone, I spent a few years in fashion design. From the few collections I designed, the “Do It Yourself”-collection was one of my most successful.
By assembling various flat 2D textile pieces you become one wearable garment. At the same time this assemble system provides a specific graphical look to each finished piece.
Business Guide
Finalising my hard and soft skills in one paper.
While living in Spain I had my very own business. Soon as I started I wondered what I could do more in my marketing, beside the online actions I knew at the time. Especially the actions I need to do to build a business step by step.
As marketing blogs did not gave me the answer, I studied intensively contemporary modern marketing. All knowledge from this study and my experiences in web marketing and project management was worked out into a Step by Step Business Marketing Guide. Once finished, the guide and acquired knowledge helped me to perform better in various business projects.
